As shown in the Video, this change of direction move allows the offensive player to maintain forward vision (not turn their head and back to the basket). However, the ball gets introduced to the defense and the offensive player no longer maintains a BODY-BODY-BALL relationship to the defense.

Therefore, the Crossover Dribble should be LOW - done below the knees - under the natural reach of the defender's hands.

The player should plant (their outside foot) and cross (the ball lower than the knees) - at the same time.
